Data Privacy Statement

Maintaining your privacy is important to the Friends of Bude Haven Parish Church (FoBPC) and we are committed to seeking only the minimum of personal data from you. We are also committed to making only responsible use of it and to letting you know how we use your personal information.

1. Who are we?

Friends of Bude Haven Parish Church (FoBPC) is a Registered Charity, Number 1197524, with a formal Constitution and Committee that guides the work of the group. FoBPC aims to preserve and improve the fabric of the building of Bude Haven Parish Church, to maintain its safety, beauty and utility and to ensure that it remains open for use by the community and visitors to the town.

Friends of Bude Haven Parish Church is the data controller. This means that FoBPC decides how your data is processed and for what purposes.

2. Information about you

We are obliged to collect personal information (data) from you when you or your organisation enquire about our activities and/or apply for membership either as a Friend (in the case of an individual) or Sponsor (in the case of a firm). 

Personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data.   The processing of personal data is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 

FoBPC collects personal data voluntarily supplied either on the membership application form or by some other means, e.g. a letter or telephone call from you.  The data stored includes name, address, telephone number, email address, membership type, method of payment and Gift Aid declarations.

3. Processing your personal data

FoBPC comply with their obligations under the GDPR by keeping personal data up to date; by storing it and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.  

All membership data is collected and held by the Membermojo system which is fully GDPR compliant. All data is held on servers and backups hosted in secure UK facilities.

FoBPC use your personal data solely for the following purposes:

    • To maintain a record of Friends’ and Sponsors’ contact details.
    • To facilitate membership reminders.
    • To ensure that Friends and Sponsors receive copies of the magazine.

Should you discontinue your membership of FoBPC, our record of your personal data will be retained for up to one year after your membership lapses and then deleted.

FoBPC does not share your personal data with third parties without your express consent unless required to do so under the remit of the law.

4. Security

We will take reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information you give us.

Communications from us will normally be sent by email but if you do not have an email address we will contact you by post or telephone.  Whilst we endeavour to keep our electronic systems and communications protected against viruses, we cannot bear responsibility for all communications being virus free.

5. Your rights and your personal data

You have the right:

  • to request a copy of the personal data which FoBPC holds about you;
  • to request that FoBPC corrects any personal data which is inaccurate or out of date;
  • to request that your personal data be deleted where it is no longer necessary for FoBPC to retain it
  • to request that FoBPC does not process your personal data for the purposes detailed in Section 3 above.

6. Our website and cookies

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behaviour information. When you visit our website, we may collect information from you automatically through cookies.  The website provides us with basic information about its visitors through Google Analytics.  For further information, visit allaboutcookies.org.

7. Privacy policies of other websites

Our website contains links to other websites.  Our privacy policy applies only to our website, so if you click on a link to another website, you should read their privacy policy.

8. Keeping your personal data up to date
